The Program
Children’s Time Child Development Center is a family owned childcare and preschool program located in South Portland, Maine. As a center-based, family childcare program, we offer individualized care to children of all ages and abilities within a warm, loving environment. The owners are on site every day participating in the program and ensuring that your children are receiving the highest quality of childcare possible.
The Owners
Children’s Time was born in 1998 and has been owned and operated by the husband and wife team of Marcie & Joe Welsch. Marcie is also the Director and part of the teaching staff. She holds a CDA certification (Child Development Associate) and has been teaching and caring for young children since 1991. As a Director, a minimum of 30 hours of related training per year and a minimum of four college credits every three years is required. Joe is also the Building Manager and maintains the property’s safety and beauty.
The Teachers
All of our Lead Teachers must hold a CDA certification or an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education and must have a minimum of two years experience in a group care setting before employment. Lead Teachers also must be CPR/First Aid certified and maintain a minimum of 30 hours of related training per year.
All of our teachers must have a minimum of two years experience in a group care setting before employment along with a desire to further their education in the field. Many of our teachers do however, have their Degree or certification in Early Childhood Education. They must also maintain 30 hours of related training per year and hold a CPR/First Aid certification.
Our Children’s Time Team
